Connect GripIQ to your AI assistant
What the MCP connection is, what an assistant can read and set up, and who can use it.
Who can do thisAdminSuper Admin
GripIQ can act as a live data source for AI assistants that support the MCP protocol, such as Claude (Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code), ChatGPT, and Gemini CLI. You add one URL to your assistant and sign in with your DM&S Microsoft account — there are no keys or passwords to paste. The assistant can then read your GripIQ data and use it to write reports, comparisons, and summaries for you, and it can set up and fill projects for you.
What the assistant can read
Section titled “What the assistant can read”- Projects — your project list, project status, and a project overview.
- Brands — your own brand and competitors.
- Personas — the personas defined in a project.
- Websites — detected changes to the websites of your brands and competitors.
- Prompts — prompts, their answers, and their visibility over time.
- Keywords — keywords, their rankings, and a ranking overview.
- Socials — social performance overviews and individual posts.
- Insights — the insights GripIQ generated, in full.
The assistant sees only the projects your GripIQ account can open, and every request is checked against your account while the connection is active.
What the assistant can set up
Section titled “What the assistant can set up”The connection is not read-only. The assistant can also add data to GripIQ for you:
- Projects — create a project for a client right away, or submit it as a project request that an administrator approves in the admin panel before anything is created. When a project is created, the client contact becomes the project’s first Team Admin and receives an email to set a password, unless they already have an account.
- Brands — add your own brand or competitors, each with its website.
- Websites — add more websites to a brand that is already tracked.
- Social accounts — add social channels to a brand that GripIQ did not find on the brand’s website.
- Personas — add the audiences your prompts are written for.
- Keywords and prompts — add them in bulk.
- Team members — invite people to a project by email. See Inviting team members.
GripIQ applies the same rules as in the admin panel:
- Duplicates are reported, not added. A brand, website, social account, persona, keyword, or prompt that is already tracked comes back as a duplicate.
- Preview first. For a new project, keywords, and prompts, the assistant can first show you what it would add without adding anything. Ask it to show you the list before it adds it.
- Quotas apply. When a list of brands, personas, keywords, or prompts does not fit in what the plan has left, the whole list is refused and nothing is added. The assistant can tell you how much room is left. Keywords and prompts you give with a new project are cut to what the plan allows instead. See How quotas work.
- Onboarding checklist. The assistant can show, per project, what is still missing (own brand, its website, competitors, keywords, prompts, personas, social accounts, team members) and how much the plan still allows.
Inviting team members
Section titled “Inviting team members”The assistant can invite people to a project by email, the same way a Team Admin does on Settings → Team members:
- A new address gets a GripIQ account with the Team Member role and an email to set a password.
- A person who already has an account is added to the project, keeps their current role, and gets an email that they were added.
- Addresses that are already on the project or are not valid email addresses are reported back and not invited. Addresses on the internal company domain are skipped too: those colleagues sign in with their Microsoft account and get access separately.
Invitations reach real inboxes and cannot be withdrawn by the assistant. Ask it to show you the list first: in a preview it tells you, for every address, what would happen, and how many team-member seats the invitations would use and how many would be left, without sending anything. When the invitations do not fit in the seats your plan has left, nobody is invited. See How quotas work. To remove someone or change a role afterwards, a Team Admin does it on Settings → Team members, or you ask your account manager.
Only administrators can use the assistant to set things up, including inviting people. Team Admins, Team Members, and Contributors cannot connect an assistant; a Team Admin invites people in the app on Settings → Team members. See Manage the team.
Who can connect
Section titled “Who can connect”Connecting an assistant is reserved for GripIQ administrators. Some administrator roles can only read: the assistant cannot add or invite anything for them. If your role does not allow connecting, the authorization stops with a message that your role cannot connect to GripIQ over MCP — contact your account manager if you believe you need access.
Administrators can see which users have a connected assistant and revoke a user’s connection at any time; after a revoke, that user’s assistant must sign in again.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Connect an AI assistant over MCP — setup per assistant.
